How does the train work in France ?

Ouigo, TGV, Ter, Intercités ? Do you feel lost when you want to book your train ticket and visit the four corners of France ? This article is for you! 🚂

TGV or Train à Grande Vitesse, is the train that connects the major cities of France such as Lyon, Paris, Marseille, Lille, etc. and therefore make long distance in a minimum of time!

TER is the train that takes you to the smallest towns. It is much slower than the TGV because it stops much more often and goes slower!

Intercités is a middle ground between the TER and the TGV, it stops quite often but over longer distances than the TER and is therefore faster.

Ouigo is a low-cost train that allows you to travel long distances for less! A godsend for young students who want to visit France!

Special mentions for : The Eurostar ⚠️ is the train that connects France and England through a tunnel under the English Channel. And the Thalys, which links France to Belgium and the Netherlands.
