I am missing some documents to apply for a residence permit, how can I do ?

Here you are, after a great year in France, you decide to continue the adventure and apply for your residence permit, after consulting the list of necessary documents, you realise that you are missing some documents like the school certificate 😱

Don't panic, we are here to explain the procedure to you

First of all, you should know that it is advisable to apply for your residence permit 2 months before your visa expires, so if you don't have all your documents, you still have time to gather them.

If your visa is about to expire and you are unable to provide certain documents such as :

- Certificate of registration from your educational institution

- Proof of residence less than 6 months old

- Proof of financial resources

You can always apply for a residence permit by filling in the necessary information and attaching the requested documents. After the prefecture has taken note of the supporting documents, you may be asked to provide additional information and/or documents.

You therefore have a further 30 days after receiving the information from the administration to submit the missing documents/information.

After this period and without any return from you, the administration will no longer be able to take an acceptance or refusal decision concerning your application, and will therefore be closed.
