I forgot my European Health Insurance Card, what should I do?

If you don't have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you will have to register with the French social security system. There are 2 ways to do this:

  • Registration via Form S1
  • Registration with proof of financial resources

Form S1

The S1 form is a standardized document in all European Union countries, which allows you to export your social security coverage from your country of origin to your new country of residence.

It is recommended that you obtain the S1 form before your departure, from the health insurance fund to which you belong!

Once you have completed the form, you must register on the etudiant-etranger.ameli website and attach additional documents:

  • Certificate of registration for the current academic year
  • S1 form
  • Proof of civil status
  • RIB

Proof of your financial resources

If you don't have a European Health Insurance Card or an S1 form, you must register on the etudiant-etranger.ameli website and attach additional documents:

  • Certificate of registration for the current academic year
  • Proof of income
  • Proof of identity
  • Proof of civil status
  • RIB

You will receive a provisional certificate within 3 weeks in order to be covered and reimbursed for your medical expenses!
