What is the budget for a student in Paris?

It is very important to know how much your budget should be once you are in France so that you can prepare your stay as well as possible !

Before you start, you should know that prices, even if they are relatively similar, can vary from one region to another, and you should also bear in mind that Paris is the most expensive city in France.

*Paris intra-muros means within the city of Paris, i.e. within the city's ring road. Hors intra-muros means the cities around Paris but which are not Paris.

I want to study in Paris, how much will I spend monthly ?

First of all, housing. It will represent the largest part of your budget. For a studio apartment in Paris, you should count about 650 € per month.

You also have utilities, water and electricity for about 45€ per month.

For the telephone package you need about 15€ per month and for the internet box you need at least 20€ per month.

So, foy your accommodation in Paris you need to plan at least a budget of 735 €.

Then, in the daily expenses has around 170 € for food per month.

For the metro, it costs about 30 € with the Navigo imagine R pas for student under 26.

10€ per month for the laundry.

This brings us to a budget of 940 € per month, not including leisure activities, restaurants, travel, etc.

This brings us to a budget of 680€ per month, not including leisure activities, restaurants, travel, etc.

Be aware that you may be able to reduce this budget thanks to the CAF which is a housing subsidy distributed by the french  government. In fact, each month, this would allow you to save an average of 130€ on your rent.

You can also live in Crous residence or in a shared flat which allows you to have more space for the same price or simply to reduce costs.
