Financial Guarantor Requirements – Student Visa
Are you preparing your student visa application and looking for more information about the financial guarantor requirements? Then this article is for you! ✨
First of all, you should know that one of the most common reasons for a student visa refusal is reason no. 2:
You have not provided proof that you have sufficient resources to cover all expenses during your stay in France, or you are not able to legally obtain these resources.
In simpler terms, this reason may be used when a student does not provide sufficient evidence to clearly demonstrate that they will have the required financial resources (€877.50 per month or more) for at least one year.
Indeed, the cost of student life in France can be high, and the consulate or embassy needs to make sure that students coming to France will have sufficient financial resources to study and live in good conditions.
Does my guarantor have to live in France?
It is not mandatory to have a guarantor living in France, but having one can strengthen your student visa application.
It shows the embassy that you have someone in France who can support you, whether financially or with other procedures during your stay.
However, if your guarantor does not live in France, you may be asked to provide additional supporting documents.
How should I choose the right guarantor for my visa application?
Choosing a guarantor can be quite complex. Your guarantor must prove that they are financially capable of supporting you throughout your studies and must also meet certain conditions required by the embassy.
Family relationship
Your relationship with your financial guarantor should be as direct as possible. The following family members may be accepted:
- Biological or adoptive parents
- Grandparents
- Direct uncles and aunts
Financial situation
Your financial guarantor must be able to prove that they have sufficient financial capacity to support you:
- A stable and sufficient income to cover the student's needs
- Sufficient financial solvency
