🏠 CROUS: how to apply for a room?

CROUS accommodations are student residences (rooms or apartments) rented at prices lower than the private market to help students find affordable housing in France 🏠

Here is the step-by-step process to maximize your chances of getting a room! ✨

1️⃣Opening of the complementary phase

International students can apply for CROUS housing only during the complementary phase.
This year, the complementary phase should open in early July 2026 (around July 7).

⚠️ Important

During the complementary phase:

• Students can reserve the remaining available accommodations

• International students can apply even without a DSE

• New accommodations may appear during the summer due to cancellations

• Housing is booked very quickly. Some rooms can be reserved within minutes

2️⃣Creating your profile

In order to apply for CROUS housing, you must create an account on the following website:

👉 messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr

3️⃣ Application for housing

Starting July 7, 2026, you can browse available accommodations and apply directly for a specific room using the following platform:

👉trouverunlogement.lescrous.fr

We recommend logging in as early as possible to maximize your chances of getting the accommodation you want.

Each room has its own detailed description. You will find information about the size of the room, the rent, the reservation fee, the address, the transportation, the nearby schools, the equipment provided, as well as a description of the accommodation and the residence (bike shed, wifi, laundry room).

4️⃣Follow-up of the application

If your application is accepted, you will have 48 hours to confirm your allocation by paying the reservation fees.

You will receive an email notification with the next steps to follow.

You will need to go to:  messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr

Then navigate to:
“Manage my housing” → “Cité’U”

If your application is rejected, it is recommended to check the website regularly, as new accommodations may become available.
