What is a guarantor?

You should know that in France, 90% of landlords will ask you to provide a guarantor for the rental of their property. It is therefore important to prepare it before starting your research! Don't panic, we'll explain it all in detail! 😊

Explanation

A guarantor is a person who agrees to be financially responsible for the tenant in case the renter cannot pay his rent. He or she represents a rent guarantee for the landlord, to make sure the rent will be paid. If you have chosen to share an apartment, it works the same way. Each roommate must have a guarantor for his room.

In France, in most cases, you will be asked to have a French guarantor.

Note that if you go through LivinFrance, you won't need a guarantor! 💙
